If Only... (5)

If only Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins were a movie.

Haven't read the book yet? Here's a taste:

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?
Without a doubt, this novel is one of my favorite YA contemporaries of all time. After all, when you have a strong heroine, a swoonworthy foreign love interest, and a whirlwind romance in the City of Love, what's not to adore?

As a movie, I honestly think Anna and the French Kiss could reap huge profits from both readers and the general audience for chick flicks. If Nicholas Sparks' books could be box office hits, why not this one? The storyline is perfectly suited to the big screen.

Casting would be hugely important in a film version of this book, but I don't think it would be impossible to find actors/actresses with French roots...or in Étienne's case, British but fluent in French? :P Since it is contemporary, there's not much need for special effects. The only necessary cinematography would be actual filming in Paris, but I don't think that would be particularly difficult either considering how many movies out there have been filmed abroad.

I don't know about you, but I'd be first in line to see Anna as a movie. I think it has great potential since there's something in it for everyone.

I've said my piece; now feel free to voice yours!
