It's Finally Friday! Interview: Nyrae Dawn

Hey Guys!
Well Zareen and I took a bunch of the tips we got from our 2 year blogoversary giveaway and decided to add more interviews and discussion posts to the blog! Now every Friday we will have something different- ranging from interviews, discussions, cover reveals, etc. Today initiating out first It's Finally Friday is Nyrae Dawn! She was awesome enough to do this interview and talk about her latest release Four Summers! I can definitely tell you from experience that I love Nyrae's books. Well keep reading there is an awesome interview for in store!

Ishita: What is your favorite book of all time?
Nyrae: This is such a hard question! LOL. I think I would go with The Outlander by Diana Gabaladon.
Ishita: What was your inspiration to write your book?
Nyrae: With my latest YA release, FOUR SUMMERS. I wanted to try and write what I consider an epic romance. I don’t think there are many of them out there. I don’t know if I succeeded in that but it was my goal. I wanted to show love grow in longer than a few weeks or months like most books. Nate and Charlotte’s romance spanned years, time apart, time without talking, other relationships and more tragedies. They were friends first and you got to see them and their relationship grow.
Ishita: What is one book you wish, you had written?
Nyrae: I would go with either The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han or Where she Went by Gayle Foreman. They both are masters of beautiful language and writing real, relatable characters.
Ishita: Why did you start writing books for young adults? And why this genre?
I’ve always been a contemporary girl at heart so I don’t think there was ever much question that I would write primarily contemporary books. As for YA, I just love the age. I love the newness of things and love the range of emotions.
Ishita: Are you currently working on anything new? If so can we get a clue on what it is ;D?
I just finished the third book in my New Adult Games series called Masquerade.

Ishita: Who was your favorite character in the whole story? And why?
Nyrae: Honestly, I would go with Brandon. He’s not one of the main characters but there is so much more to him than you realize when you start the book. He is dealing with a lot. I love Nate and Charlotte so much too.
Ishita: Any tips or tricks for aspiring writers?
Nyrae: Write a lot. Be willing to revise. Don’t rush it, and never give up!
Ishita: What is your writing atmosphere like?
Nyrae: I like to write at Barnes and Noble. I like writing around books. If I’m not there, I’m writing at my desk in my room.

Speed Round Questions

Ishita: Favorite food?
Nyrae: Chocolate. Does that count? LOL
Ishita: If you were stranded on an island what 5 things would you take?
Nyrae: This is hard. I would want my husband and daughters with me but I would feel bad putting them on an island! LOL. So I will go with items so they can live their happy life here: A box of books, food, water, knife, tent.
Turtle | via FacebookIshita: Turtle or Fish?
Nyrae: Turtle
Ishita: Reading or Writing ?
Nyrae: Both! Could never choose.
Ishita: Print Books or E-books?
Barnes and Noble
Nyrae: I read mostly ebooks.
Ishita: Favorite Book Store?
Nyrae: Barnes and Noble
Ishita: Favorite City in the world?
Nyrae: I want to go to Dublin. I’ve never been though.

About Four Summers!

Four Summers

Charlotte Gates is tired of being Charlie Rae. She loves the lake she was raised on, their rental cabins, and spending her nights under the stars…but inside she yearns for more.
After his freshman year, Nathaniel Chase’s family spends their first summer at The Village. From the beginning Charlotte intrigues him. She’s the girl who always says what’s on her mind, wins at night games, and each time she looks through her telescope, gets lost in the sky.
Over the course of four summers together, Charlotte and Nathaniel become best friends, share firsts, mend broken hearts, protect each other’s secrets, overcome tragedies…fall in love. And say goodbye…
Charlie wants out of The Village. Nate wants her to have her stars. And they dream of being able to do it all together. But life isn’t as easy as their summers.
Each summer is told in alternating points of view between Charlie and Nate. Journey with the pair, and their friends, as they share their story about growing up, discovering who they are, making tough choices, and falling in love again and again.

About the Author!

Writing has always been Nyrae Dawn’s passion. There have been times in her life where she wasn’t able to chase that dream the way she desired, but she always found her way back to telling stories.
One of her loves has always been writing about teens. There’s something so fresh and fun about the age that she loves exploring. Her husband says it’s because she doesn’t want to grow up. She doesn’t think that’s such a bad thing and luckily for her, he doesn’t either.
Nyrae gravitates toward character-driven stories. She loves going on emotional journeys with characters whether it be reading or writing. And yes, she’s a total romantic at heart and proud.
Nyrae resides in sunny Southern California with her husband (who still makes her swoon) and her two awesome kids.
When she’s not with her family, you can be pretty sure you’ll find her with a book in her hand or her laptop and an open document in front of her.

She writes for Entangled Publishing, Grand Central Publishing and is self-published.
