Review of Oubliette

Cover Image

The Summary via Barns and Noble

Reychel thought she was finally free. She was wrong.

Everyone saw her gift of prophecy as a blessing, but her gift is uncontrollable. No one alive can teach her to manipulate her unique gift and the answers she needs lie buried within a madman’s journals.
She’s thrust in the midst of a brewing war and the only uniting factor for her people is their belief in the Prophet. Will Reychel learn to control her gift or will she be forced to deliver a false prophecy that could lead her people into a violent, unwinnable war?

My Review
So as most of you know, I was on vacation In India for the past month. And the Journey lasts almost 24 hours (just on the plane) plus there are the stops….So in those 24 hours guess what I did… I Read ! And watched movies of course, but I did a lot of reading! During the whole trip I read almost 8 paperback books, and 2 e-books….and much of the e-reading was done on the Plane Ride….so yea, this is what I did…I think I should get to the review now….So Here is my review for Oubliette…
The Real Review ;)
Oubliette is the second book in the Cloud Prophet Trilogy, and well I have to say one thing…the series just got better. Usually in series, the books end up getting worse and worse, but Surprisingly Oubliette is just as intriguing as the first book; Anathema.
What is the best part of the series as a whole is that, it is a refreshing taste to YA fiction. There is the confusing romance, and the awesome powers; but the presentation itself of the book is different and unique. This being for these reasons

  • ·         There is a whole new fantasy kingdom, but there is just the right amount of info needed for the description of the lifestyle and scenery and everything else describing the Kingdoms at war. There is not an overdose of info anywhere.
  • ·         The lead protagonist can say “No”, she doesn’t say “Yes” to everything, and she speaks and follows what she believes.
  • ·         While reading you can’t expect anything. While in many novels, you can expect what will happen in the next scene and even in the end of the book even if you haven’t made it half way through. ( These are the types of books I prefer, I don’t like knowing what will happen, it ruins the magic of the story)
  • ·         And lastly while reading, all you want is more. I got yelled ( well told repeatedly) to turn off my laptop and to stop reading on the plane (from the parents) because they wanted me to do something else, I gladly did while reading The Heart of Darkness, but when it came to Oubliette’s turn I just couldn’t. I had to finish the book (or e-book for me).
  • ·         Plus the leading male, isn’t the most gorgeous, strong, or perfect guy…He feels the most the real out most males in books. He has many flaws, put he is a sweetheart and a romantic. So he may not be perfect, but he is charming and sweet enough to make and girl love him.
So these, are 4 of my main reasons for loving Oubliette as much as I did. All I have to do now is get a Severed the final book in the series. I can’t wait to know what happens to Reychel, of course Mark, and well the rest of the Kingdom as well. So my rating for Oubliette is a 4.5/5 because the book is great but it is not perfect (one flaw being like the first book, it is too short! It is really that I want more, plus there is always that margin for improvement).
