Published May 10th 2011 by Knopf Books for Young Readers

* my review has spoilers this time*

The Summary (Goodreads)
When 17-year-old Jamie arrives on the idyllic New England island of Little Bly to work as a summer au pair, she is stunned to learn of the horror that precedes her. Seeking the truth surrounding a young couple's tragic deaths, Jamie discovers that she herself looks shockingly like the dead girl—and that she has a disturbing ability to sense the two ghosts. Why is Jamie's connection to the couple so intense? What really happened last summer at Little Bly? As the secrets of the house wrap tighter and tighter around her, Jamie must navigate the increasingly blurred divide between the worlds of the living and the dead.
Brilliantly plotted, with startling twists, here is a thrilling page-turner from the award-winning Adele Griffin.

My Review !
I had won this book off of Goodreads first reads, and i'd like to say it wasn't a bad book. :) the cover and summery seemed quite intriguing so I wanted to try the book out. =)

So the intro really captured me, when Jamie is talking about the drugs she takes, though she claims not to be an addict, and then the dead uncle she sees....all of this was so different and unique i had to read more. I was enjoying the book fairly well until about halfway when she is at Little Bly and starts having these visions.
So for a majority of the book i was confused about who was who, and who did what, and why they did it. I realized she look similar to another girl who had her job before but then died....but as  soon as the book focuses on the dead girls boyfriend (who died with her)  I became more confused on the visions, and the deaths, and the romance.
There was some romance, and the hearth-throb in this book had to be Sebastian...only problem is there was little character development throughout the novel, so you couldn't grasp him. The characters stayed mostly the same throughout the story until about the very last chapter, in which you can say they "changed".
As you reached the end you start understanding a little bit, and as soon as you reach the last chapter....BAM! everything makes sense! I would explain how, but that would ruin the great spirit of the writing. I would say this type of novel is very acquired taste, and recommend who loves, novels that have to deal with traumas, mental problems, and addiction, and maybe mystery. Overall i enjoyed this book not to long, and it was a different [so to speak ] read.
If to rank this book i would give a 3 or 3.5 / 5 stars, because i felt the novel needed more in it, it felt rushed at parts, and because i missed the character development. This book released in May so it is already in stores. I recommend you either borrow it from a friend or a library, unless you enjoy this genre then buy it =)

Happy Reading
